Two wide bands of brown leather cross over the instep, each one edged in a punched diamond brogue with a red layer showing through the holes  the detail you would find on a good Oxford, put on a sandal. It is made at our own factory in Chennai, where we have worked leather for three generations. The straps are fullgrain hide with a smooth finish, cut wide so they sit flat across the foot rather than cutting into it. The footbed is moulded and covered in soft leather, with a gentle shape under the arch. Underneath, a slim sole with a deep chevron tread that grips a polished floor as well as a wet street, kept low so the whole sandal reads smart rather than sporty. Wear it with a kurta to a wedding, with linen trousers to dinner, or with jeans on a hot afternoon. It is the sandal you can answer the door in. A note on the leather: this is a smooth aniline finish, and it will pick up small marks with wear. That is the nature of an uncorrected hide. A wipe and an occasional neutral cream keeps it looking right, and the marks it does keep become the character of your pair. Care: wipe with a dry cloth. Condition with neutral leather cream.
